Looking for the best 9mm sub-gun on the market? SIG MPX SBR 9mm Sub-Gun is your personal defense weapon of choice.

When it comes to the defense of one’s home, each Warrior and Sheepdog has the responsibility to provide their own defense. As a 45 year veteran LEO, I can tell you without a bit of hesitation, the security and defense of you and your family is your sole responsibility. No one else, including law enforcement, has this primary responsibility. In the growing city I live in, there are about 95,000 people. At any one time there are about 15 police officers who are responsible as first responders. The ratio is 6,300 people to one officer. One officer cannot keep 6,300 people or about 1,800 homes safe.

You must realize you, male or female, are the first line of defense for you and your family. This brings up some decisions. For Warriors and Sheepdogs the decision is simple, we defend and we fight. For others it is not so simple. Uncertainty, the fear of aggression and violence can overwhelm them. Their mindset is to deny the danger, live in a bubble thinking there are no violent people and if there are they will not bother them. We call them “The Sheep”. After all, how can wolves survive without sheep? On the other hand, imagine the life of a wolf in a land of only Warriors and Sheepdogs. I guess sheep figure in the balance of the Universe.

All Warriors and Sheepdogs have their own formula for defending themselves, family and home. Some have formulated their core plan to include the tools such as a shotgun as their primary weapon with a handgun as their secondary. Others have the primary weapon as a semi-auto rifle such as an AR 5.56 or AK 7.62X39 backed up by a high capacity semi-auto 9mm or a 1911 style .45acp. Then there are those who believe the danger and threat to their family and themselves is imminent. Their plan is for an all-out defense.

SIG MPX SBR 9mm Sub-Gun

For some, the 12 gauge shotgun, AK or AR-15 platforms are just not what they are looking for. These Warriors and Sheepdogs have the funds and drive for perfection. For these proactive types, I suggest the SIG MPX SBR 9mm Sub-Gun with a SIG “WSRD” 9mm Pistol/sub-gun Suppressor. If you are this proactive Warrior or Sheepdog, I would also suggest the SIG BRAVO4 Optics. Total package price; MSRP of $3,532.00, not including the $200 Federal Tax Stamp for “SBR” Short Barrel Rifle and the $200 Federal Tax Stamp for the suppressor.

The SIG MPX SBR 9mm Sub-Gun, hereafter referred to as SIG MPX, is one of finest 9mm sub-guns manufactured in the World today. We received the SIG MPX sample and SIG ammo late last year. The temperature was very low and the wind was….well like the wind is in Oklahoma. For this reason we tested the SIG MPX at Wilshire Gun indoor range where shooters can take their time in testing and assessing their weapons. Assisting me in the T&E was police officer Chris Mhoon and Sgt. Tyler Miller USAR who is also the Manager of Wilshire Gun in Oklahoma City.

The SIG MPX we tested was equipped with the SIG WSRD Suppressor ($200 Fed. Tax Stamp) and the SIG BRAVO4 Optics mounted on the full-length Picatinny rail. Without the suppressor the SIG MPX sample has a barrel length of 8 inches. The SIG MPX can be purchased with a 4.5 inch barrel as well. With the suppressor the barrel is about 15 inches long. The weight of the SIG MPX is 5.5 pounds and with the Titanium/stainless steel suppressor it tips in around 6.2 pounds. The barrel is made up of carbon steel. The stock and grip are made out of Polymer. The forend hand-stop is aluminum KeyMod, and the AR-style controls are ambidextrous, safety, mag and bolt release.

In shooting the SIG MPX I found the trigger pull to be crisp and clean. The recoil was nearly nonexistent even shooting the “HOT” SIG 124 gr. HP was very pleasant. When firing in rapid fire mode, the SIG MPX with the WSRD suppressor attached made it easy to stay on target. Throw into the equation the SIG BRAVO4 optics and tight groups become a reality. The combination of the suppressor and optics complemented the sub-gun’s superior functionality and accuracy. The suppressor did reduce the “report” of the SIG MPX rifle.

Between the three of us, we fired about 300 rounds of the SIG ammo with no malfunctions of any kind. We also shot a full-auto version of the MPX. Other than the full-auto to semi-auto difference, the two rifles performed identically and perfectly. After firing the 300 rounds in the test model, I checked the temperature of the suppressor and found it to be around 289 degrees Fahrenheit and 74 degrees Fahrenheit at the breach. Suppressors can and will get hot enough to cause a real serious burn, so be careful.

The SIG MPX would make a good defense weapon within the distances of pointblank to 150 yards. Out past 150 yards, depending on the type of round, the 9mm loses considerable velocity which means considerable loss of foot pounds. You may strike an intended target out past the 150 yards but the disabling or serious damage to said target would be greatly diminished. So I say the SIG MPX would not be a good medium range weapon but excellent at a range from three to one-hundred yards.

Best 9mm Sub-Gun for Home and “On-the-Move” Protection

For protecting your home and surrounding property, the SIG MPX would be awesome. I would say the SIG MPX in capable hands, by capable I mean training with this weapon, would enhance the owners ability to protect their family. Keep in mind if your perceived distance of safety is 100 yards or more, or if you perceive engagement at this distance I would suggest you move up to the SIG MCX VIRTUS SBR in 5.56. Taking into account if you live in a rural area or semi-rural area could factor in the choice of weapons.

For home and urban areas the SIG MPX is perfect for fast action in close contact combat arenas. The overall compactness enhances the ability to swinging this suppressed weapon into action in a very manageable way. The BRAVO4 optic gives you a shockingly wide field of view, to aid you in operating in a target enriched environment.

SIG MPX T&E Conclusions

After firing the SIG MPX in a slow and deliberate way, the shots fired were grouping tightly giving a very accurate account of its self. So accuracy is excellent. A fun way to fire the SIG MPX is the rapid firing of three to five rounds at a time. Even when shooting these three to five round series at 25 yards, we were getting groupings of four inches. The trigger pull is excellent, the felt recoil is minimal with very little barrel flip, making the SIG MPX Sub-gun a real pleasure to shoot. This rifle felt great in my hands. We all agreed the SIG MPX SBR 9mm Sub-Gun is an excellent product and firearm. Within the indoor range with standard Hollow-point ammo and high speed ball ammo, the suppressor kept the sound down to around 147 decibels. If we was to have used subsonic ammo, the sound would have been even less.

In conclusion, if you have the $3,932.00 plus sales tax to invest in one of the Worlds’ finest Sub-guns, a sub-gun used by specialized teams of law enforcement and military, then I can say look no further as the SIG MPX is your weapon of choice. If you can live without the suppressor and SIG BRAVO4 Optics, and you shop around for prices, you could acquire one for around $1,750.00 plus the Federal Tax Stamp. Magazines will cost about $60.00 each. So for around $2,100.00 you can be the most well prepared Warrior or Sheepdog on the block. You may be able to pay more but you can’t buy better than the SIG MPX SBR 9mm Sub-Gun.
