O.F.A.S.T.S. is the Oklahoma Full Auto Shoot which spawn from Mike Friend’s starting Firing Line back in 1996. During this even the first American AK milled receiver was demonstrated and accepted by the Full Auto firearms shooters. Full auto forward to 2002 Mike Friend held the first O.F.A.S.T.S. where there were 12 firing positions and around 500 visitors.

This last June 23rd, 2018 I attended the O.F.A.S.T.S. near Wyandotte, Oklahoma accompanied by my young assistant Tyler Carpenter. I had never attended this shoot before so I was wondering about the normal concerns with such as rain as the event was in the middle of ongoing bands of rain. I wondered if I was going to have to park in a muddy field to attend this shoot.

To my surprise the drive in the downpour took us to a sunny location where the parking was a grass field but dry where other visitors were helpful and friendly. Upon meeting the staff I found them to be friendly and very helpful. I received our Press Passes and entered the O.F.A.S.T.S. site. This shoot has grown from the first shoot of 12 positions to the present 91 positions.

During our filming we were greeted by the Vendors, full-auto owners, who were very helpful and friendly. During our time there, I felt safe witnessing no unsafe acts. The Line Staff are nothing less than amazing in keeping this very cool event safe for all participants. You know it seems whenever I attend shooting events there is that one guy who acts irresponsible and endangers everyone. I was looking for this guy but making eight trips up and down the 900 feet shooting positions I never found him. This can only be due to the no nonsense approach of staff and owner. I can tell you this shoot is totally safe for you and family members. It is fun and educational. I learned many things I did not know about various historical full auto firearms. Check out the video and plan on attending this event next year in June of 2019.

OFASTS Quick Draw ShirtsQuick Draw Shirts

At this shoot there were several vendors who sold accessories to firearms, but my favorite was Quick Draw Shirts. The owner Kevin Simons is a very friendly and helpful person. His helper and daughter was the worker. I saw she was carrying her NSSD, NotSoSmartDevice, in a cowboy gun-belt. I laughed when I saw the way she kept her phone close and handy. I speculated keeping her cell phone in the holster is appropriate as these devices have contributed to a many wounded hearts.
